Exim Bank supports Karatu District Hospital

EXIM Bank Tanzania through its
responsive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has supported Karatu District
Hospital in Arusha region by donating construction materials including bags of
cement to aid completion of a medical theater under construction.

Speaking shortly after receiving
the donation from the bank’s Karatu Branch Manager, John Daniel Njau during a
ceremony held at the hospital recently, the Karatu District Commissioner Mr.
Mathew Sedoyeka said the donation will go a long way in supporting the
Government’s efforts to improve peoples’ health in the region.

He said the theater building
whose construction will require 89m/- upon completion will see the hospital
handle operations which at the moment are referred to the Karatu Lutheran Hospital.
“I am very happy that Exim Bank
has chosen to support our district hospital by donating these materials which
will enable us to move a step further in completing the hospital’s theater
building.

“It is no doubt that a well
equipped theater, can be able to save lives of Karatu district residents who
are at the moment forced to travel long distance to the Karatu Lutheran
Hospital, which is miles away from town, ” he said.

Sedoyeka said that
the fact that Karatu Lutheran Hospital was a distance away from the town centre
where the majority of people has been a hardships to accessing the facility.

“At the times of emergency,
especially for expectant women who happens to have complications during
delivery and require operation in order to save life of both the mother and
child, finding the service promptly becomes a big challenge,” he said.



On his
part, the Exim B
ank

Karatu Branch Manager, Mr John Daniel Njau said his bank will continue to support various
community development activities where the bank operates.

 “Our Bank is pleased to support projects
geared towards sustainable improvement towards health sector. We are aware that
our business will only grow if we have a healthy community. Supporting the community
means that we are supporting our own customers, in a form of giving back part
of our profit to the community. We will not be tired to do so,” he said.
